The
life of a high-class restaurant seen as a world of its own, a separate
universe with its own inhabitants, rules, intrigues, bustle, pecking
order, past, and relationships behind the scenes and with the customers…
a living, breathing, moving world that screams, cries, sings and, naturally,
eats…
In Rabbit Hunter, Jérôme Deschamps and Macha Makéïeff continue
their burlesque and disturbing exploration of our everyday worlds,
jubilantly relentlessly and affectionately dissecting the coarse, complex
workings of our human comedy.
Here, their distinctive approach is found
in the set design split into two parallel, but interacting world: the
“upstair” world in the restaurant's eating area and the “downstairs”
world in the kitchen. The audience changes sides in the interval so they can
watch the story from the two radically different points of view. Guy Seligmann's
film brilliantly renders the originality and effectiveness of the switch of
the perspective for the audience.
