Patrice Chéreau's third staging of In The Solitude of Cotton Field s
by Bernard Marie Koltès with Pascal Greggory and Chéreau himself.
From the first
reading around the table through the first contact with the performance space,
rehearsals and lighting to opening night, the entire creative process unfurls
in front of our eyes. The particular strength of this film is to show us the
evolving and ongoing dialogue between the two actors, a dialogue full of crisis
and magical moments of harmony and insight via which the truth, intensity, complexity,
mystery and depth of Koltès' text gradually emerge to form an implicit bond
between these two men.
Everything is put through the mill of the director and actor's wants, needs and
sensibility. Here is revealed a part of the secret of theatrical creation in
motion.
本片是錄像導演將柏德烈．薛浩導演的第三齣戲劇《寂寞的綿花田》之整個創作及製作過程拍攝下來。
由最早期演員們圍坐在桌前朗讀劇本，到首次接觸演出場地、採排到首演晚上的亮燈儀式等過程都一一在我們眼前逐一顯現。本片特別的地方是它讓我們看到兩位演員之間不同程度的對話。
這些對話充滿衝突但亦有和諧感人的時刻，兩個男人透過真誠、複雜、親密又有深意的對話互相產生了毫無保留的友誼。
