In an open and intimate conversation with his son, Peter Brook speaks about
his life, career, friends, love for travel and his insatiable curiosity with
regard to all peoples, countries and cultures.
The theatre emerges as the natural
central thread of the film and the director's life. First of all literally,
we can discover shots of rehearsals where we see him for the first time working
with and directing his actors (Maurice Bénichou, Yoshi Oida, Bruce Meyers and
others) and clips of some of his productions. Then in words as he looks back
over the highlights and watershed moments of his career: joining the Royal Shakespeare
Company in 1962, the travelling theatre laboratory and his experience on tour
in Africa in 1971, creating the International Centre of Theatre Research and
setting up at the Bouffes du Nord in 1974.
