Thirty something novelist Lucas, and his wife Clémentine, a French-language teacher, are living as expats in Romania – they've rented an isolated house in the woods outside Bucharest. Their life there seems tranquil, almost idyllic. However, one evening, without warning or reason, everything is turned upside down. The telephone keeps ringing; there are distant, whispering voices on the end of the line. Their car is broken into. Slowly, the couple realise they are not alone. And with that, their nightmare begins.
