What if
Johnny had never been born? Such is the point of departure for
this film about and starring Johnny Hallyday, the originality of
which is evident in this unique premise.
Fabrice, an average middle manager, is the ultimate fan of Johnny Hallyday. He
knows everything about his idol, feverishly collects the tiniest object that
may have brushed the star's life and venerates the singer above everything else,
his family included.
After a dust-up with an irate neighbour who had reason to be annoyed by his awful
night time singing imitations, Fabrice awakes in a hospital in a world where
Johnny never existed. Not being one to give up easily, Fabrice decides to look
for Jean-Philippe Smet (Hallyday's name at birth) and make of him “Johnny” in
this strange parallel universe.
Whether your awareness of Johnny Hallyday is limited or flawless, and whether
you are a fan or not, this comedy by Laurent Tuel will titillate the sleeping
fan inside of you right from the opening scene.
