Suzanne (Juliette Binoche) is charming but she is a mother snowed under by obligations. With her puppet shows, the classes she teaches and the two children, Simon and Louise, that she has been raising alone since their father left, she hasn't got a minute to herself. To help her, she takes in a young Taiwanese babysitter, Song Fang, who is a student at Paris University. Soon, Song Fang and Simon share an imaginary world: a strange red balloon follows them, even in the exhibition space of the Musée d'Orsay. While Suzanne is caught up in a court case involving her tenant downstairs, who refuses to leave, every day, Song Fang becomes more important in her life. Flight of the Red Balloon is the first of the movies that the management of the Paris Musée d'Orsay wants to use to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The celebrated filmmaker thus got the opportunity to unite his discovery of the Parisian atmosphere and Lamorisse's legendary film The Red Balloon with his own fondness of puppetry and the various types of puppet theatre.

可愛迷人的蘇珊﹙茱麗葉．庇洛仙飾﹚是一名被責任壓得透不過氣來的母親。她除了木偶表演、授課之餘還要照顧兩名小孩。自從孩子的父親離開後她便要獨自撫養他們，根本沒有屬於自己的時間。為此她僱用了一名在巴黎大學唸書的台灣女孩宋芳作臨時保母。沒多久，宋芳便與孩子門一同分享一個幻想的世界：一個神奇的紅氣球出現，亦步亦趨地跟著他們，甚至在奧西博物館的展覽廳內也見它的踪影。 而其間，蘇珊正因為她樓下的租客拒絕遷出而忙於與他打官司，日復日的，宋芳在她的生命中變得愈來愈重要。 《紅氣球之旅》是獲奧西博物館的管理部門委托製作，是作為慶祝博物館的二十週年紀念的眾多電影的第一部。而這位著名導演亦因而有機會把他所發掘到的巴黎風情和拉摩里斯的著名電影《紅氣球》與他喜愛的木偶和各種木偶劇場結合在一起。 |
