Born in Cuneo, northern Italy in 1944, Edoardo Di Muro, who is also an author of comic books, has been a long-time resident of Dakar and now lives in Italy. His works have been exhibited in many African countries as well as in France, Italy, the United States and Japan.
Edoardo Di Muro's drawings are appreciated for both their artistic and documentary value. In them one can study at leisure the architectural details of the magnificent “Brazilian” houses in Lagos, or the solid colonial structures of Douala. Ethnic groups and countries are further identified by hairstyles, ritual scarring or other bodily markings.
Beneath Edoardo di Muro's pen, urban Africa flows onto the drawing with all its diversity of living quarters, ethnic influences, social contrasts and with all the humor and high spirits of its inhabitants who, like Di Muro himself, never abandons these qualities.
The exhibition, jointly presented by the Alliance Francaise de Hong Kong and the Consulate General of France, with the venue sponsored by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and supported by the Consulate General of Italy, will show over 85 drawings representing Africa Capitals from Senegal to South Africa. |
