All users are required to abide by these rules.

On site consultation

Consultation of materials on site is open to all and is free of charge.

The Mediatheque is open as follows:

• The use of mobile phones in the Mediatheque is strictly forbidden.
• Food and drinks may be consumed only in the cafeteria.

Borrowing

Membership

Borrowing of books and other items is restricted to members of the Mediatheque. Students at either of the Alliance’s two centres are granted membership automatically. University or Hong Kong schools students may become members upon payment of HK$40.
Anybody else may join by becoming a member of Alliance Française de Hong Kong i.e. upon payment of an annual subscription of HK$300.

A valid Alliance Française membership card must be presented when borrowing items.

Lending conditions

• Any items marked “consultation sur place” can not be borrowed.
• Lending period: 3 weeks for books and magazines, 2 weeks for CDs and 1 week for DVDs.
• The maximum number of items that can be borrowed at any one time is as follows:

A deposit of HK$400 is required from any person wishing to borrow CDs or DVDs. This deposit is repayable upon request following a minimum period of 3 months from the date of the initial deposit being paid. Repayment will be made by cheque within 3 weeks of the request being raised.

• Items may be reserved in advance.
• The lending period may be extended once only, either by email or in person at the Mediatheque, as long as another person has not already reserved the item.
  The request for an extension must be made no later than the original due date.
• All late returns will be subject to a fine of HK$1 per item per day. All further borrowing rights are suspended whilst any late returns remain outstanding.
• Mediatheque staff reserve the right to refuse further lending to members who have returned items in poor condition. A fine may also be levied.

Other Services

• Photocopies and printing of documents will be charged at HK$1 per page.
• Internet access and TV5 are available.
• The Mediatheque also provides information on contemporary France.
• Telephone enquiries may be made during office hours (Mondays to Fridays from 10am to 8 pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 5pm).
• A delivery system will operate between the Mediatheque and the Alliance’s Wanchai centre, thereby enabling users to collect and return items at the Wanchai centre.
